Become a Chapter Volunteer Leader

Practice your leadership skills and expand your network of business development professionals by serving on a chapter committee.

Choose from one of the following committee opportunities and contact the appropriate committee chair directly.

You must be an APMP member affiliated with the NCA chapter to join a committee.

Roundtable Committee

As a member of this committee, you will help plan our signature education and networking events held every other month.

Committee jobs include: selecting program topics; identifying potential speakers; reviewing speaker credentials; selecting final speakers; reviewing speakers’ presentations before the dinner meetings; helping with publicity, developing and printing the program agenda, writing E-zine articles to cover the events, logistics and serving as the emcee for Roundtables.

Proposal Basics Boot Camp Committee

Volunteers will help plan and manage our annual Proposal Basics Boot Camp full-day training conference for new proposal professionals and those who need a “best practices” refresher. This spring program includes three education tracks for proposal coordinators, managers and writers.

Committee jobs include: developing the program and selecting speaker topics for the proposal management, writing and coordination tracks, reviewing presentations, mentoring speakers, creating event publicity, selecting facilities and catering service, planning event logistics, providing logistics support the day of the event, developing the project plan for the event and assisting in overall management.

Mid-Atlantic Proposal Conference & Expo (formerly Professional Day) Committee

The Mid-Atlantic Proposal Conference & Expo Committee plans and coordinates the chapter’s annual full-day education event for business development professionals held in the fall.

Committee jobs include: program development, publicity, logistics, exhibitor coordination, food planning, ushering, scheduling, graphic designing, and editing.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is responsible for increasing chapter membership and participation though new member acquisition and retention initiatives. The committee works closely with other Chapter committees to coordinate a range of activities designed to increase membership value.

Committee jobs include: corporate outreach, member recruiting, new member follow-up, cross-chapter liaison, event support, administrative support, and other recruitment/retention initiatives.

Event Logistics Committee

The Event Logistics Committee is responsible for registration and logistics associated with all chapter events. The committee works closely with other Chapter committees to coordinate a wide range of activities designed to increase membership value. Key among these is our coordination with the Roundtable, Proposal Basics Boot Camp Committee, and APMP-NCA Annual Conference Committee.

Committee jobs include: performing registration activities before each event, registration table staffing, contracting and coordinating with event venues, and coordinating logistics activities.

Networking Committee

The Networking Committee is responsible for researching and setting the standards for networking within the proposal community. This includes networking at APMP-NCA events and setting up other events around the Metro DC area. We work closely with both the Roundtable and Membership Committees.

Committee jobs include: Roundtable event networking, planning other events around the DC Area, and researching networking best practices to benefit APMP-NCA members.

Executive Summary E-zine Committee

As a member of this committee, you will help prepare our quarterly E-zine, plus a special February edition.

Committee jobs include: selecting articles and identifying potential article authors; maintaining the E-zine schedule, communications, and project workspace; assembling the E-zine mock-up in Word, including updates to the announcements and recurring information; collecting submitted ads and articles; writing announcements; copy-editing; desktop publishing using InDesign; reviewing and redlining the E-zine drafts; and preparing monthly progress reports.
